Double anniversary at SMS Elotherm coming up in June 2013

10 years of dynamic and innovative growth within the SMS group, 75 years of induction technology made in Remscheid – this can be considered a double success.

When in 1938 the first induction hardening machine for crankshafts was built on the old Elotherm premises in Remscheid-Hasten, the prosperous future of the technology as well as the company was only in the beginning.

Tung Ho orders new reheating system from SMS Elotherm

Tung Ho Steel ordered a new induction system from SMS Elotherm for their production plant for medium and large sections in Miaoli (Taiwan). With the new induction reheater, Tung Ho Steel greatly decreases heavy oil consumption while at the same time reducing emissions. In addition, the new system allows quick reheating of various materials and geometries.

Less energy consumption at Nucor Steel

SMS Siemag has been awarded an order by Nucor Steel Berkeley, South Carolina, USA, to upgrade the CSP® plant at that place. In future, the company intends to produce finished strip to be thinner and broader by 200 millimeters. Between the CSP® furnace and the mill train, SMS Elotherm will install the induction heating system Elo- Heat . As a result, total energy consumption of the plant will be reduced considerably.
